Weather Station Data reference

Weather Station Data

Find connection details, station metadata actions, observation counts, summaries, missing-data status, and database files for the selected station.

  • On iPhone and iPad, choose Settings > Data. Compact layouts also provide Data in the Station toolbar, while regular-width iPad layouts provide the Data Inspector.
  • On Mac, choose Inspectors > Data. If the Inspector is hidden, choose Inspectors > Show Inspector first.

Station

On iPhone and iPad, the Station section in Weather Station Data contains actions for station metadata and sensor organization.

ActionPurpose
Rename Station…Set the name Weather Fusion uses for the selected station
Add Location / Update Location…Set the station coordinates and resolve its address and time zone
Organize Sensors…Change how compatible sensors and measurements are grouped

See Rename a weather station, Change a station location, and Organize sensors for procedures. On Mac, station name and location commands are in the Data menu.

Connection service API

The first diagnostic section uses the selected connection service’s name, such as Davis WeatherLink API or Netatmo API.

FieldMeaning
StatusConnected, Not configured, Connection issue, or a current service-incident advisory
Real-TimeThe automatic request interval for current observations
Historical DownloadWhether another history request is ready, downloading, temporarily delayed, or unavailable
Historical RequestsRemaining requests in an applicable short-term allowance
Historical Hourly LimitRemaining historical requests in the hourly allowance
Daily API CallsRemaining requests in the daily allowance

The rows vary by connection service because each service exposes different access methods and limits. Limit updating means Weather Fusion is still learning or refreshing the current allowance.

Real Time

FieldMeaning
Generated AtWhen Weather Fusion assembled the current real-time snapshot
Newest observationTimestamp of the newest observation in that snapshot
Oldest observationTimestamp of the oldest observation in that snapshot
ObservationsNumber of observation records represented by the snapshot
MetricsCount and expandable list of measurements available in the snapshot

Historical

FieldMeaning
Last sync dateMost recent completed historical synchronization
Newest observationTimestamp of the newest stored historical observation
Oldest observationTimestamp of the oldest stored historical observation
ObservationsTotal stored observation records; expand it for daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly summary counts
Total metricsCount and expandable list of measurements present in stored history
Missing observationsTotal known missing records; expand it for Pending, Retryable, and Exhausted counts

Pending records are waiting for processing. Retryable records can be requested again. Exhausted records have reached the current retry limit.

For row-level stored observations and period summaries, see the Observations reference.

Database

FieldMeaning
File NameName of the selected station’s .wfdb database package
Database sizeSize of the main SQLite database
WAL sizeSize of SQLite’s write-ahead log, which contains recent database changes awaiting consolidation

On Mac, click File Name to reveal the database package in Finder. See Data management reference for backup, restore, download, and repair actions.

Data Tools

On iPhone and iPad, Data Tools can include Download Older Observations, Download Missing Observations, Redownload History, Recalculate Summaries, and Back Up Database…. Availability depends on the selected connection service and station state. On Mac, equivalent maintenance commands are available from the Data menu, while backup and restore are in Settings > Backup and Restore.
