Connection service capabilities
Compare authentication, automatic refresh intervals, historical behavior, and station discovery across supported connection services and local loggers. See Supported weather stations for models grouped by connection service.
| Connection service or path | Authentication | Automatic real-time interval | Historical behavior | Station discovery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AcuRite through Weather Underground | Weather Underground sharing and credentials | 10 minutes | Uses Weather Underground data and history behavior | Shared Weather Underground station |
| AmbientWeather.net | API Key | 1 minute | Device history downloaded in bounded pages | Account devices |
| Davis WeatherLink | API Key v2 and API Secret | 1 minute | Range-based history; historical access can require a WeatherLink subscription | Account stations |
| Ecowitt Cloud | Application Key and API Key | 1 minute | Service cadence tiers across older ranges | Account devices and stations |
| Netatmo account service | Account authorization | 10 minutes | Service ranges processed into local observations and summaries | Personal account stations; Netatmo Network on the map |
| Tempest account service | Sign in to Tempest; Personal Access Token alternative | 1 minute | Tiered station history; older ranges use coarser intervals | Owner stations in the authorized Tempest account |
| Weather Underground | API Key and Station ID | 10 minutes for the selected station | Recent and hourly historical requests subject to provider limits | Configured IDs and public-station discovery |
| WiFiLogger for Davis consoles | Local-network endpoint | 30 seconds | Reads supported Davis station archive data; requires local reachability | Local-network discovery or manual endpoint |
| Windy | API key | 5 minutes | Recent seven-day historical window | Account stations and public-station discovery |
Service and account limits
- Polling intervals describe Weather Fusion’s selected-station schedule. The provider can still return an older observation.
- Historical depth varies independently from real-time access. Account tier, station registration date, provider retention, and rate limits can reduce coverage.
- Sensor coverage follows fields returned for the selected station. Two stations using the same provider can expose different cards, charts, and widget choices.
- Tempest sign-in can succeed without owner stations. Weather Fusion remains signed in, but no station is available to select.
- Public-network and METAR markers remain discovery sources, separate from personal stations and local history.
- WiFiLogger requires local-network access whenever Weather Fusion needs to contact the logger.
Provider incidents and retry limits can temporarily pause requests while preserving saved configuration.
