Weather Fusion User Guide

Data Management

Use Download, Recalculate Summaries, Import Data…, and Export Data… to keep station history complete and portable.

  • On iOS, open the Data Download sheet from Observations.
  • On macOS, use the Data menu for download and recalculation, and the File menu for import and export.

Available actions

ActionBest forResult
Download observationsData looks stale or periods are missingWeather Fusion fetches the latest and missing history when the provider supports it
Recalculate SummariesDay, month, or year summaries look out of syncWeather Fusion rebuilds summary values from stored observations
Export Data…A backup or transfer file is neededWeather Fusion creates a .wfdb package for the current station
Import Data…Stored data must be restored or mergedWeather Fusion adds only rows not already stored for the same station

Download missing history

Weather Fusion downloads automatically.

Manual Download is useful when data looks stale or a period is missing.

Rebuild summaries

Use Recalculate Summaries after large imports or backfills when day, month, or year summaries need to catch up with stored observations.

Back up or move data

Use Export Data… to create a .wfdb backup of the current station.

Use Import Data… to restore or merge from a .wfdb file.

  • New rows are added when the file matches the current station and contains data not already stored.
  • Import is rejected when the file belongs to a different station.
  • Import can finish with Data imported successfully, No Data Imported, or an error.

Import is non-destructive: existing rows remain unchanged.

Open .wfdb files from Finder on macOS

A .wfdb package can also be opened directly from Finder. Weather Fusion queues the file and starts import when the preconditions are satisfied.

Import starts only when:

  • A station is currently selected.
  • Demo Mode is off.
  • No historical download is running.
  • Summary recalculation is not running.
  • Another import is not already in progress.

Why No Data Imported appears

This usually means one of these conditions:

  • The file contains no rows newer than local rows.
  • The same station and date range were already imported.

Progress and duration

Large downloads, imports, and recalculations can take longer when station history is deep.

Run one maintenance action at a time for more predictable results.

If results are unexpected, see Troubleshooting.
